Study goals and qualification profile

The aim of the English-language master's program Communication Science at the University of Vienna is to train graduates who are able to present current, socially relevant research questions in the field of communication science at an internationally capable level and using contemporary research methods, as well as as decision-makers in internationally oriented communication professions, especially in private sector research. The focus of the study is on the contexts, contents and effects of communication processes on the micro, mesh and macro level.

 

Graduates have profound skills in terms of theories and methods of empirical communication research and can independently plan, carry out, evaluate and transcribe communication science research projects in science and practice on their own. The master program qualifies for research-oriented activities, especially in the following professional fields:
